Film Constellation is bringing a rich slate of productions to Berlin’s European Film Market (EFM, 13-19 February). The company will be representing the Berlinale Panorama title Olmo by Fernando Eimbcke, staged by Oscar-winning producers Plan B and Teorema. Olmo marks a return to the Berlinale for the Mexican director after 2008’s Lake Tahoe, which received the FIPRESCI and Alfred Bauer Prizes. His 2004 directorial debut, Duck Season, premiered at Cannes and went on to win numerous prizes, including 11 Ariel Awards (Best Film, Best Debut Feature and Best Director, among others), and was ultimately released by Alfonso Cuarón and Warner Independent in the USA.

In Berlin, Film Constellation will also be showcasing exclusive new footage for Academy Award winner Alejandro Amenábar’s upcoming period adventure The Captive, as well as for Jérémy Comte’s (the Oscar-nominated short Fauve) debut feature, the Canada- and Ghana-set drama-thriller Paradise. Both films are currently in post-production and were recently featured in Deadline’s “71 Films from Around the World That Could Light Up Festivals in 2025” feature.

Film Constellation will also be presenting exclusive new footage of The Growcodile by Joost Van den Bosch and Erik Verkerk, a CG family animation that chronicles the thrilling, adventurous journey of a young girl and her uniquely unconventional companion: Gilbert the crocodile. The film is slated for delivery in late 2026.

Additionally, pre-sales for John Michael McDonagh’s upcoming survival horror Fear Is the Rider will continue, ahead of the film’s principal photography, set to begin later this year. The movie stars Ben Mendelsohn, Abbey Lee, Toby Wallace and Eliza Scanlen in the leading roles.

Sales will also continue on the firm’s 2024 slate, with a number of titles now on release or gearing up for upcoming theatrical releases. These include Emma Benestan’s Animale [+lire aussi :

fiche film], set to hit US theatres on 7 March via Music Box Films. As for its documentary titles, Film Constellation will be whipping out two more aces: Chaplin: Spirit of the Tramp (San Sebastián, Lumière Festival) by Carmen Chaplin and the AI murder-mystery About a Hero [+lire aussi :

Finally, Léo Teste, director of Sales and Distribution at Film Constellation, told Cineuropa: “Although the 2024 market was characterised by significant disparities in performance, the standout indie successes of the year highlighted the ever-growing demand for distinctive directorial voices.”
