The industry event dedicated to documentaries and docuseries from Central and Eastern Europe, East Doc Platform, is gearing up for its 14th edition which will take place in Prague between 13 and 19 March.

This year’s theme is “Still Human? Are You Still Here?”, referring to AI’s growing influence on and contribution towards our lives and decision-making processes. The projects presented within the four EDP sections, however, are very much made by human hands.

15 new films will be pitched to decision-makers within the East Silver Market, alongside 11 in the East Doc section, 5 in Czech Docs: Coming Soon, 8 in the East Doc Forum, and 12 feature-length films and 5 docu-series in the Ex Oriente line-up, the latter section having been announced as the “grand finale” of a one-year training programme. The stories and styles will be varied, ranging from subjects such as the Kyrgyz Space Programme (A Satellite for Burulaï in the East Doc Market line-up), people with ginger hair (How Long Until We Die Out? in the Czech Docs: Coming Soon section), the man who killed the South African military commander Chris Hani, who was instrumental to apartheid (My Father, The ICEMAN in the East Doc Forum), and a transgender woman who escapes a Georgian village to live life more freely in Europe (A Song Without Home in the East Silver Market).
