Sweden’s forthcoming science fiction series We Come in Peace centres on humanity’s response to an unprecedented extraterrestrial occurrence, blending political and scientific realism. Developed in collaboration with several European broadcasters and production companies, the show is set to present fact-driven, step-by-step accounts of emergency management and investigative procedures following a startling incident.

The narrative unfolds over the skies of Stockholm, where an unidentified, jellyfish-like object suddenly appears, triggering immediate public alarm. This occurrence leads to rapid mobilisation by Sweden’s governmental agencies and scientific institutions. Rather than relying on speculative fiction tropes, the series examines documented emergency response strategies and realistic scenarios, such as the coordination between civil defence authorities and research teams. By focusing on these reactions, We Come in Peace aims to offer a look at the practical challenges posed by first contact with the unknown.

). Ahmad portrays scientist Zandra Kraft, whose disciplined and analytical approach to scientific inquiry propels her to investigate the phenomenon. In parallel, Fares plays Elias Kazemi, the head of Sweden’s Civil Defence Authority, tasked with orchestrating the nation’s emergency response under the intense scrutiny of both domestic and international stakeholders.

We Come in Peace is the creation of Lars Lundström, the acclaimed writer behind the hit sci-fi series Real Humans. Directed by Jens Jonsson (8 Months [+lire aussi :

), the series also features industry veteran Frank Spotnitz – widely recognised for his work on The X-Files – as writing supervisor and executive producer, marking his return to the genre in a non-English language context. Principal photography was conducted predominantly in Lithuania, with supplementary shooting in Sweden to ensure authentic urban backdrops for the Stockholm scenes. The production team emphasised practical special effects (SFX) over expensive Hollywood-style visual effects.

The coproduction of We Come in Peace is a collaboration with several European industry players. Piodor Gustafsson is producing for Sweden’s Spark Film & TV, in co-production with Tom Olsson for Infinite Entertainment (Sweden), Gabija Suirbyte for Dansu (Lithuania), and Christophe Toulemonde for Beside Productions (Belgium). Sweden’s TV4 is represented by executive producers Lisa Dahlberg and Lucy ter Berg, in partnership with Germany’s ZDF and Lundström’s Snyggfin Production. London-based Big Light Productions, led by Frank Spotnitz alongside senior development producer Adrian Banyard, focuses on development and script supervision. Further support comes from TV2 in Norway, MTV in Finland, and C More in Denmark, with financial backing provided by the Nordisk Film & TV Fund and Creative Europe – MEDIA. International distribution is managed by Newen Connect, a subsidiary of the TF1 Group, while Nordic sales are taken care of by Black Spark Film & TV. The series is expected to be broadcast by late 2025.
