The film tells the story of how Rosario's husband and brother have lost their jobs after being unfairly dismissed. To pay their debts, they decide to kidnap their boss's corpse and demand a ransom. But Inés, the dead man's wealthy wife, and her children have other plans. Despite belonging to completely different worlds, the two families will be forced to exchange much more than a body. Because... who said happiness was free? And what price are they willing to pay for it? This is the story of a group of characters seeking happiness in their own chaotic ways. A story that explores social differences with humour, touching on themes such as family inheritance and the ties or springboards that we’re born with, according to the filmmakers.
“Since I read the script for the first time, what attracted me the most is that I had a lot of fun and at the same time I could read between the lines. I found a story that captivated me both on the surface and at the deepest level. I immediately saw a story of mirrors between two opposing families — the working class and the powerful — who ultimately complement each other, resulting in a powerful portrait of today’s society with its flaws and its virtues,” says Venezuelan Claudia Pinto, who has recently directed episodes of the series The Lady's Companion and Beguinas.
Morir no siempre sale bien is a co-production between Pedro Pastor for Voramar Films and Gerardo Herrero and Mariela Besuievsky for Tornasol Media, with the participation of RTVE, Movistar Plus+ and À Punt Media and with the support of the Institut Valencià de Cultura and ICAA, as well as funding from the ICO. Karma Films will distribute the film in Spanish cinemas.
