The Marché du Film’s dynamic work-in-progress platform, Goes to Cannes, returns for its 2025 edition with an exciting global lineup. Running from 16-19 May, the initiative will spotlight fresh talent and diverse storytelling through five curated showcases by partner festivals and markets from four continents. Presented at the Palais K, these sessions aim to connect promising projects in post-production with sales agents, distributors and programmers looking to discover new voices.

This year, the selected partners are the Adelaide Film Festival, HAF – Hong Kong Asia Film Financing Forum, Festival do Rio, Istanbul Film Festival x Başka Sinema, and Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (Estonia). Each will present a handpicked lineup of works-in-progress, introduced by their respective creative teams in live pitching sessions.

This edition also marks Brazil’s special role as Country of Honor (read news), with Festival do Rio bringing a compelling showcase of emerging and established voices supported by the Audiovisual Secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Culture. Adelaide Film Festival, a major Australian cultural event known for its impact-driven investments in local storytelling, will debut with a slate of bold Australian projects. HAF, representing the bustling cinematic landscape of Hong Kong and Asia, will present works that exemplify the region’s diverse perspectives and global aspirations.

The Istanbul Film Festival teams up with Başka Sinema to spotlight Turkish works with international potential. Their collaboration connects independent cinema with regional co-production opportunities, leveraging the Istanbul Film Festival’s industry platform Meetings on the Bridge. Meanwhile, Tallinn Black Nights returns with a Baltic selection, once again demonstrating its commitment to championing emerging talent from the region.

In addition, this year is the second time that the Goes to Cannes Award will be given, presented by Sideral Cinema, a Spanish company specializing in international independent film sales and distribution. The selected recipient will receive a €10,000 minimum guarantee to support the film’s completion and market launch. The winner will be announced during the official Goes to Cannes Lunch with representatives of all partner festivals.
