The Serielizados festival has announced the launch of the first edition of Mind the Gap, an international pitch for series co-productions. It aims to help projects in securing final funding, giving them international visibility and promoting European co-productions. The pitch session will take place on 6 November at the headquarters of the Spanish Society of Authors and Publishers (SGAE) in Catalonia. It will form part of the activities of Serielizados PRO, the industry section of Serielizados - 12th Barcelona International Series Festival, which will be held from 3-12 November.

From the submitted projects, ten will be selected to take part in this pitch before a panel of audiovisual industry professionals. Participants will receive questions and feedback from an international jury composed of sales agents and European broadcasters and platforms. One winning project will receive a prize of €5,500. Following the pitch, all participating projects will have the opportunity to hold one-to-one meetings arranged by the organisers. Out of the ten selected projects, seven will be chosen by a committee appointed by the organisation and made up of screenwriters and script analysts, following an open call for entries. The remaining three will be selected from among the participants in Seriencamp Co-Production Pitch, ECAM Forum and a Swedish project selected with the help of the Göteborg Film Festival.

The initiative is aimed at high-quality first seasons of series or miniseries, with a minimum of three episodes and a minimum runtime of 26 minutes per episode. Projects must be in the development or pre-production phase. Ideally, they should have part of their funding secured and a channel, platform or distributor attached. In addition, the series must be suitable for co-production and only fiction projects will be accepted (proposals for children's content, animation or documentaries are not included). 

Serielizados PRO is the industry section of Serielizados - Barcelona International Series Festival, which will take place on 5, 6 and 7 November. It is a forum dedicated to series professionals, featuring a programme of panels, master classes, meetings and pitches, all designed to bring the industry together and help series projects to progress through synergies and sessions that promote co-production.

Mind the Gap is supported by the Catalan Institute for Cultural Companies (Government of Catalonia) and the SGAE Foundation, through the Territorial Council of the SGAE in Catalonia. The initiative also benefits from the collaboration of ECAM (Madrid Film and Audiovisual School), the Seriencamp festival in Cologne (Germany), the Göteborg Film Festival, the Swedish Film Institute and the Swedish Embassy in Spain.
