Film Fund Luxembourg has revealed the recipients of its latest round of funding following the selection committee’s third session of the year, which took place from 21-25 July. A total of 14 of the 27 eligible projects received funding commitments for writing and/or development and production, amounting to €7.4 million. The projects receiving selective financial aid (AFS) include four live-action feature films, two animated features, three live-action series, one animated series, one live-action short film, two animated short films and one XR project.

Among the projects receiving writing and/or development support are two live-action features, each of which secured €60,000, including Laurent Prim’s Soap Girl (Cohacy Studio), co-written with Chantal Schaul; and Cyrus Neshvad’s On se retrouve toujours (Cynefilms). In the series category, the Les Films Fauves presentation Pomerhin by writer-showrunner Julie Schroell in collaboration with multiple co-writers was granted €60,000, while Thierry Faber’s Capitani – 3, staged by Samsa Film, also received €60,000. Meanwhile, Patrick Imbert’s The Wild Inside, an animated feature co-penned with Johanna Goldschmidt and produced by Folivari (France) and Mélusine Productions (Luxembourg), secured €30,000. Furthermore, an XR project from a_BAHN, Les Gens de la Pluie, by writer-director duo Nicolas Blies and Stéphane Hueber-Blies, obtained support amounting to €150,000.

The recipients of production support include two live-action feature films. María Sólrún’s offbeat comedy The Man in the Storeroom, with an estimated budget of €3,594,963, will receive €1,125,000 from the fund. It is a co-production involving Iceland (Sagafilm), Germany (Wunderlust) and Luxembourg (Red Lion). Production will kick off in March 2026. Franck Victor’s Monstre will receive €1,105,000 of the required €2,395,288. The fantasy-horror flick about a young woman with secret “destructive” powers in a remote village is co-penned by Tom Bouvier and Thomas Lajon, and is set to enter production in November 2025. It is a co-production between France (Diabolo Films), Belgium (Sequel Prod) and Luxembourg (Skill Lab). Marginal – 2, a live-action crime series by helmer Loïc Tanson in collaboration with a team of co-writers, secured €3,000,000 (of €4,081,000), the largest bursary in its category. Jules Werner and Timo Wagner will play the lead roles of investigating judges Albert and Léon, who endeavour “to right the wrongs” of the criminal investigation department. The project is being produced by Luxembourgish outfit Samsa Film, with additional Belgian backing (via Artémis Productions). Production is slated for February 2026.

On the animation front, the animated feature Suzanne was granted €490,000 (of €1,901,096). The biopic drama about the eponymous heroine, Suzanne Noël, the first female cosmetic surgeon and a feminist activist, is being helmed by the writer-director pair Anaïs Caura and Joëlle Oosterlinck, with co-writing by Loic Barrere. France’s award-winning Vivement Lundi ! is behind the project, alongside Anoki, and it is a joint effort with the Czech Republic (Maur Film), Belgium (Lunanime) and Luxembourg (a_BAHN). The charming animated series Donjons & Chatons (Dungeons & Kittens), directed by Clément De Ruyter and Jérémy Guiter, with co-writing by Mélanie Duval and co-directing by Stéphane Nedez, secured €932,000 (of €6,103,896). The series unfurls a string of adventures as felines find themselves banished from the Kingdom of Cats. It is a co-production between France (Watch Next Media), Bulgaria (Studio Zmei), Belgium (Lunanime) and Luxembourg (Mélusine Productions). Production is eyeing an October 2025 start.

Two animated shorts also acquired production support. Helmed by Jiyun Jeong and penned by Amélie Vrla, L'Étoile (The Star) will receive €120,000 (of €183,789). The drama homes in on the unravelling relationship between five-year-old Joséphine and her grieving mother, following the loss of her unborn child, six months into pregnancy. The project from Luxembourg’s Doghouse Films is to enter production in November 2025. Another animated short film, Ken Barthelmey’s Stuffed Companion, produced by Samsa Film (Luxembourg), will see over 82% of its budget funded, with €120,000 secured out of €145,750. The movie presents a “whimsical tale” about an eight-eyed dog after all he has learned to fear is upended. Production is slated for this August.

Completing the selection is Nina Bodry’s Masking Rosa, a live-action short drama centring on a crime-scene cleaner as she sinks into “a surreal day” after the departure of her son from home. Luxembourg’s Joli Rideau Media is behind the project, which will receive €120,000, covering over 94% of its cost, estimated at €126,400. Production is set for August.
