The fifth edition of Iberseries & Platino Industria – being held in Madrid from 30 September-3 October – gathers global heavyweights from the audiovisual sector this week. As a meeting point for the creation, production and distribution of content in Ibero-America and Europe, it will offer presentations, talks and round-tables on challenges and opportunities, featuring the voices of industry leaders.
Secuoya Studios leads “The Year of Global Expansion” Spotlight, presenting its internationalisation strategy and new collaboration models with creative partners in multiple territories. The session brings together Chris Moukarbel, founder and executive producer of Permanent Wave Productions (USA); Chiara Cardoso, managing director and executive producer at BlackBox Multimedia (UK); Sydney Gallonde, CEO of Make it Happen Studios (France); and Jónas Margeir, CEO of Act4 (Iceland). Meanwhile, Sony Music Spain will use the Upcoming Content strand to unveil key releases and projects for the coming months.
In “Focus Italy: Challenges and Trends in Audiovisual”, producers and representatives of the country’s Ministry of Culture will outline new cooperation frameworks and current hurdles in production, financing and distribution – including international co-production strategies and access to tax incentives.
María Coronado, director of Audiovisual at the State Society for Technological Transformation, under Spain’s Ministry of Culture, will present “New Tools for Audiovisual Support and Investment”. She will break down public financing instruments, tax incentives and digitisation mechanisms for audiovisual projects.
A panel on “Business Affairs” – and their role linking audiovisual production with international public policy – will explore compliance, copyright protection and coordination between private industry interests and public strategies. Speakers include Clara Ruipérez, head of Intellectual Property at Telefónica and member of the management committee and board of Movistar Plus+ (Spain), and Carmen Páez, Spain’s Undersecretary of Culture; moderation will be courtesy of Carlos López Martín de Blas, secretary general and head of Legal at Secuoya Content Group.
“Europe and LATAM Versus AI: The Future of Collective Management” will debate the copyright challenges posed by artificial intelligence – with Adriana Moscoso Del Prado Hernández, director general of GESAC (Spain); Rafael Sánchez, director of Institutional Relations and Communications at EGEDA (Spain); Eduardo de la Parra (EGEDA Mexico); and Vivian Alvarado (EGEDA Colombia).
The “Creation or Generation: Rights and Authorship in the Age of AI” panel examines creators’ roles in relation to AI tools – with Pau Vergara, executive producer at Red Spectra Films (Spain), joined again by Clara Ruipérez and by Roger Campione, professor at the University of Oviedo and former director of the Centre for Studies on the Social Impact of Artificial Intelligence – CEISIA (Spain).
