Filming is currently under way in the Västra Götaland region of Sweden for Bloody Men, the keenly anticipated film adaptation of Andrev Walden’s bestselling novel of the same name. The book has won multiple awards, been sold to over 30 countries, and topped bestseller lists in both Sweden and Norway.

Among the cast, Aliette Opheim (Knutby, Black Crab) stars as Andrev’s mother, alongside Filip Berg (Whiskey on the Rocks [+lire aussi :

Just like in Walden’s novel, the story zooms in on seven-year-old Andrev, who is growing up in 1980s Sweden. After discovering that the man he believed to be his father is not actually his dad, Andrev reacts not with despair, but with curiosity and hope. Through his eyes, the film explores his mother’s tumultuous relationships with a series of men, blending humour and darkness in a bittersweet coming-of-age tale about love, resilience and the fear of repeating inherited mistakes.
“Filming is currently taking place in Gothenburg, at the Krakow restaurant, which serves as the regular hangout for Andrev’s mother, Mona, and her friend Lilla Molnet in the film,” reads a production note shared by Film i Väst.
Bloody Men is being staged by B-Reel Films, in co-production with SVT, Film i Väst and SF Studios, which will handle distribution in the Nordic countries. A theatrical release is slated for autumn 2026.
