A fuego is a story about friendship, chosen family, love, and youth marked by dance and freedom. After the sudden death of her brother, 17-year-old Lola (played by Zoe Bonafonte) embarks on a journey that leads her to discover a hidden world that her brother used to frequent: the Bunker, an abandoned space that has become the epicentre of clandestine parties and dance battles, where music and freedom thrive without rules. There, she finds a group of friends who accompany her on this journey, helping her reconnect with her passion for dance and rediscover herself. The Bunker becomes her refuge, a place where she learns to live without fear, without filters, on fire.
“The story is set in adolescence, in the explosive mixture of positive and negative emotions in equal measure. This emotional intensity is difficult to express in words, or even in images. Music and dance connect with emotions in a special way, helping us to understand them and let them go. In our film, dance becomes the language through which we express all the emotional elements that fuel the story," explains Estel Díaz. The film features an urban-style soundtrack and choreography by renowned artist Anna Macau.
A fuego is a production by Ha Vuelto La Película AIE, Jaime Ortiz de Artiñano for Atresmedia Cine, Toni Carrizosa and Ana Eiras for Sábado Películas, Alberto Aranda for Playtime Movies and Manuel Monzón for A Contracorriente Films, with Ana Eiras and Andrea Barrionuevo (Atresmedia Cine) as executive producers. The film is produced with the participation of Netflix, and A Contracorriente Films will manage its distribution in Spanish theatres.
