The eighth edition of Proyecta, an initiative born of the collaboration between Ventana Sur (an event kicking off today in Buenos Aires and running until 5 December), the Cannes Film Festival's Marché du Film and the San Sebastián Film Festival, will host the presentation of 12 projects by filmmakers seeking financing and partners for their first or second features. Over the course of the event, representatives of the selected features will have the chance to present them to production companies, sales agents and festival programmers, with the aim of fostering co-productions between Europe and Latin America.
Proyecta will consist of a pitching session to be held on 3 December and conducted by the projects’ producers, alongside other professional networking events. This year’s selected titles reflect a broad diversity, both thematically and geographically, as evidenced by The Boa and the Bamboo, the debut feature to be directed by Spain’s Maitane Carballo Alonso, and Houses Are Silent, the first feature by Romania’s Roxana Stroe; both will get another chance to be presented to an industry audience after their stint at the San Sebastián Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum (see the news).

One project will be able to take part in the following year’s Sørfond Pitching Forum, where it will have the chance to be presented (provided it meets the criteria) to potential Norwegian co-producers and will automatically become eligible to apply for the fund’s support if the project secures a Norwegian co-producer. In addition, two producers will be invited to the San Sebastián Film Festival in 2026. All projects will also be eligible for the Sideral Cinema Award, which consists of the pre-purchase of the international rights to one of the future films for a minimum guarantee of €10,000. These awards, together with other networking events, will help boost the internationalisation of the projects and hasten their development.
Proyecta forms part of Ventana Sur, Latin America’s leading audiovisual market, which is organised by Cannes' Marché du Film, the Argentinian National Institute of Film and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) and the Uruguayan Film and Audiovisual Agency (ACAU), and also benefits from the support of Creative Europe - MEDIA.
