Los que vienen whisks the viewer away to rural Galicia in 1976, where a family dinner is interrupted by unsettling phone calls from a neighbour who claims to be under threat from strange figures hidden in the night. What initially appears to be an episode of paranoia soon turns into a real danger when a supernatural mist envelops the area and threatens the protagonists.

Víctor Català (Barcelona, 1989), who trained at EMAV and ESCAC as a cinematographer, now makes his feature-length directorial debut after helming shorts such as Sympathy for Killers, We Are Brutal and A Little Taste. After working as director of photography on Los visitados, a Spanish-Mexican production from 2024, and the Japanese feature Performing Kaoru’s Funeral (2023), he cements his commitment to genre cinema with a strong visual identity through this debut feature.

“Shooting Los que vienen has been a real privilege for me. Not only because of making a horror film - which is quite an achievement in our country - but also thanks to the opportunity to portray legends from our Galician heritage that have always fascinated me,” the director told Cineuropa. “There are countless terrifying stories unknown to the general public that deserve to be told. I believe one of the keys to identifying them is to delve into folklore and traditional legends. On this project, I had the privilege of being surrounded by great professionals who love genre cinema, and I was lucky enough to work with a top-tier cast capable of delivering the complex acting - a mix of drama, suspense and action - that this story required,” he concludes.

According to its makers, the film is characterised by its commitment to a restrained and progressively oppressive mise-en-scène, in which a single main location becomes the epicentre of a tense nocturnal siege. The approach is inspired by titles such as The Guilty [+lire aussi :

, The Strangers, The Changeling and The Fog.

Los que vienen is being produced by Carlota Amor and Fede Pájaro for Aday Entertainment.
