Slovenian filmmaker Katarina Morano commenced the principal photography stage of her feature debut Seaview (S pogledom na morje). The shooting is taking place from late January to early February on the Slovenian coast, in Novi Vinodolski in Croatia and in Ljubljana. The specific details of the plot of the film are still pretty much under wraps. All we know is that it follows a loving family in a precarious situation over the course of one very eventful day and night.

Before shooting began, the filmmaker said, “I want to capture a day in the life of a young family, caught in a spiral of uncertain precariousness - a day that most resembles a game of Tetris at its fastest level, where just one wrong move causes everything to collapse in an instant.” She further illustrated it with an example: “What does it feels like to be a young mother from a coastal tourist town, cooking risotto for lunch at five in the morning, not yet knowing who will be able to pick up her two children from kindergarten in the afternoon? All she knows is that they definitely will not be able to take the dog for a walk today either.”

Katarina Morano holds a Master degree in screenwriting and filmmaking from Ljubljana’s Academy of Radio, Theatre, Film and Television. Her first graduation film Where (2013) was nominated for the Student Academy Awards. For her Master’s degree, she directed 15:27 Ljubljana-Munich (2017) that premiered in the Future Frames section of Karlovy Vary and won a Special Mention at Sarajevo.

For Seaview, the filmmaker wrote the script with Žiga Divjak, for whom this is also his first feature film. The cast is led by Maruša Majer (known for her roles in Ivan [+lire aussi :
