On 1 March, Vanja Juranić completed the principal photography stage of her third fiction feature, Mum, Dad and I. The 21-day shoot took place on location in Zagreb and the coastal town of Lovran, and in a virtual production studio in the Croatian capital. Currently, the film is at the post-production stage, while the premiere is expected sometime in 2026.
After her mother receives a medical diagnosis, Daša (Zrinka Cvitešić, recently glimpsed in Dražen), the daughter of a Zagreb family, comes back home from the life abroad she previously put on hold, convinced that her parents are frail, if not utterly defeated, and that she can fix things. But, instead of the silent tragedy she’d been expecting, she finds their flat to be a vibrant place where different generations, temperaments and worldviews collide. For the first time, she sees them through the eyes of an adult woman, and while trying to take the lead, she realises how family roles are fixed, but relationships between people are fluid when moved by love.
Mum, Dad and I is Juranić’s third fiction feature, after the urban relationship comedy-drama Zagreb Cappuccino (2014) and the drama based on true events Only When I Laugh [+lire aussi :
