The second feature by Slovenian writer-director Urša Menart, Everything That's Wrong With You, is set to world-premiere in Sarajevo Film Festival's International Competition. Cineuropa can now exclusively reveal the film's poster.

The story follows Maruša, who feels lost after a traumatic period spent taking care of her terminally ill mother. She seeks refuge at her estranged father’s farm, but neither he nor his new family can give her the support she needs. Her only comforts are Billie, her late mother’s man-hating Dachshund, and Alja, a young nurse she met online. Alja is an awkward expat who lives and works in a small German beach town and posts humorous videos about her loneliness and her undiagnosed illness.

Bonding over their shared struggles and a sense of humour, Maruša and Alja quickly develop a friendship. After hitting a dead end at home, Maruša decides to travel to Germany to spend New Year's Eve with her new friend. When they finally meet in person, the complexities of their lives, including Alja’s health issues and personal dilemmas, put their fragile friendship to the test.

The drama explores the loneliness of a generation that is more connected than ever yet is increasingly isolated, tracing a young woman's search for belonging through the fragile bonds of friendship.

Besides two films that she co-wrote with director Damjan Kozole, Nightlife (2016) and Half-Sister, both of which competed at Karlovy Vary, Menart is known for her feature debut, My Last Year as a Loser, which won Best Film at the national Vesna Awards in 2018.

Everything That's Wrong With You stars Anuša Kodelja (Bitch, A Derogatory Term for a Woman), Klara Kuk (Role Model), Matija Vastl (History of Love), Mojca Fatur (Beanie), Marjuta Slamič (The Basics of Killing), Kaja Ocvirk and Ivana Percan Kodarin. The picture was lensed by the Dutch cinematographer Roy van Egmond and edited by Lukas Miheljak, while the score was composed by Simon Penšek and Alenja Pivko Knežević.

Everything That's Wrong With You was produced by Danijel Hočevar and Katja Lenarčič for Slovenia's Vertigo, and co-produced by Alexander Wadouh and Roxana Richters for Germany's Chromosom Film, Dušica Novaković, Stefan Orlandić and Dimče Stojanovski for Serbia's Living Pictures, and Paula Elina Klossner and Stephan Buske for Germany's Tidewater Pictures, alongside RTV Slovenija.
