Eterno Island Pictures continues a period of particularly intense activity with a new feature that is currently shooting. The outfit has been filming Aarón, the first fiction feature by Miguel Ángel Olivares, since 6 August, and the shoot will run for eight weeks across Madrid, Málaga and Gran Canaria. This romantic, socially minded drama is the Córdoba-born filmmaker’s first fiction feature after a career focused particularly on short films and social cinema, and comes after he premiered his first feature-length documentary, Marea Morada, earlier this year.

Fran Berenguer (appearing in titles such as My Fault and Invasión) and Bárbara Cuesta (seen in La boda and soon in Blows at My Door) lead the cast as Aarón and Saray. The former works in his father’s workshop and is close friends with Vidal, played by Viktor Beltrán (seen in the series Wrong Side of the Tracks and who also wrote the film’s screenplay). The conflict arises when Aarón secretly falls in love with Saray, his best friend’s sister. A decision made in order to keep the relationship hidden will trigger a chain of events that will lead the protagonist into a spiral of guilt, drugs and a gradually weakening grip on reality.

Appearing alongside the three leads are Eva Isanta and Nacho Guerreros, as Aarón’s parents, and Antonio Velázquez as Vidal and Saray’s father. The cast also includes Sofía Allepuz, Marc Parejo and Daniela Santiago, with a special appearance by Charo Reina.

Aarón is being produced by Eterno Island Pictures and co-produced by Gadol Producciones, with Nacho Guerreros as associate producer and with the involvement of Canal Sur Televisión. Patricia González is producing the feature, with executive production handled by González, Hugo Romera and Olivares himself. Filming will wrap on Gran Canaria in September.

Meanwhile, Eterno Island Pictures has just concluded the shoot for Hada, the feature debut by Tony Morales, in Madrid and on Gran Canaria. The supernatural thriller stars Mexico's Esmeralda Pimentel (see the article).

The two projects join the current slate of Eterno Island Pictures, which has also completed Fiesta Pagäna by Álvaro Brechner (see the news), due to be released in Spanish cinemas on 6 November, and currently has Blows at My Door by Patricia Ortega (see the news) and Liquid Love by Álvaro Congosto (see the news) in post-production.
