Admission requirements: http://cinemaeartes.ulusofona.pt/pt/

The Film and Media Arts Department (DCAM), was created in 2001 within ECATI with the aim of aggregating the entire offer of this school in the fields of media arts. The main objective of this department is to provide education in the technological and artistic areas most relevant to film and media production, with a particular attention to all technical and creative areas in the fields of the still and moving image, design, sound (and noise), writing (in its various modalities and structuring functions) and exploring the potential of digital and interactive media, via interdisciplinary thinking and practice, combining the most traditional resources with the most updated technology. The department's current organizational model favours initial technical, reflective and artistic training at the level of the first cycle (undergraduate), advanced artistic, critical and creative training at the level of the second and third cycles (masters and doctorate) and complementary training with strong connection to the business world and international dynamics. All courses in the department, namely the degree in cinema and multimedia communication, are organized according to the Tuning regulations for the organization of study cycles in the European higher education space (http://www.unideusto.org/tuningeu/) in addition to incorporating the recommendations of the reports “Creative Skills Europe, Trends and skills in the European audiovisual and live performance sectors” and that of the report “Tuning document for film / screen arts education”.

Over the past few years, and thanks to a permanent effort to consolidate and reinforce the human and material resources made available, this project has become one of the most relevant in the country in this area of training, with its own dynamics of internationalization and connection to the community, namely in the fields of applied research and advanced training, which allows it to be one of the only two Portuguese schools accredited and members of the GEECT (Groupement Européen des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision) of CILECT (Centre International de Liaison des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision). It should also be noted that the degree in cinema and DCAM have always been the best ranked school in the various editions of the ICA - Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual competition to support audiovisual training, which allows students' productions and the activities of the DCAM to be regularly funded by this institute.
