At the 23rd Reykjavík International Film Festival (RIFF), we caught up with four prominent film-industry figures following the "Film as a Weapon" panel, part of the festival's Industry Days, to hear their views on the relationship between cinema and politics. Rémi Burah from ARTE France Cinéma, Erik Hemmendorff from Sweden's Plattform Produktion, Icelandic documentary filmmaker Hrafnhildur Gunnarsdóttir and director-producer Baltasar Kormákur reflect on the role of the film industry in an increasingly polarised world, addressing questions of artistic freedom, political responsibility and the implications of cultural boycotts.
