At the general assembly of the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF) on 16 May in Cannes, the Estonian National Film Producers Union was accepted into the body.

On ERPÜ’s joining the federation, Benoît Ginisty, director general of FIAPF, said: “The decision to welcome the Estonian National Film Producers Union as a new member of FIAPF was adopted unanimously by its members. This is a recognition of the ongoing efforts made by the Estonian film producers' community to create a sustainable, dynamic and creative film industry in their country, as evidenced by the internationally acclaimed Tangerines [+leggi anche:

. While copyright is being debated at the international and European levels, this new member for FIAPF stresses the value for producers of uniting forces and voices. We are proud that Estonia is the 30th production country involved in our global organisation.”

Andrus Raudsalu, producer and chairman of the board of ERPÜ, said: “As the biggest organisation uniting Estonian film producers, becoming a member of FIAPF was a logical step for us. FIAPF membership is a quality mark acknowledging the capability of Estonian film producers. FIAPF unites producers from 30 countries that are relevant in the international film production landscape. We are happy that Estonia is now on this map.”

FIAPF is an international organisation founded in 1933, and its mandate is to represent the economic, legal and regulatory interests that film and TV production industries on five continents have in common. FIAPF is also a regulator of international film festivals, including some of the world's most significant ones, such as the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.

The Estonian National Film Producers Union is a non-profit organisation founded in 2008, which currently has 18 members.
