Having already shown off its slate at major film festivals, and with a dynamic start to 2018 at Sundance, Rotterdam and Göteborg, Warsaw-based international sales agent New Europe Film Sales, headed up by Jan Naszewski, is readying its line-up for the 68th Berlin Film Festival (15-25 February 2018).
Focusing mainly on curating its current handful of carefully selected titles, New Europe will have only one international premiere for public audiences: Linda Hambäck’s family animation Gordon & Paddy [+leggi anche:

The Swedish film, which is based on the series of books about Superintendent Gordon, written by Ulf Nilssons and Gitte Spees, follows forest police chief Gordon, who, before his retirement, finds a new assistant, a clever mouse called Paddy. Together they will solve Gordon’s last case, the mystery of the squirrel’s missing nuts.
The detective animation intended for a younger audience also has a star among its cast, in the guise of Stellan Skarsgård, who lends his voice to Gordon, while Paddy is voiced by Melinda Kinnaman. The film enjoyed a great opening in Swedish cinemas before Christmas and has already been pre-sold in other territories (France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland). Gordon & Paddy is the first family animation film on New Europe Film Sales’ line-up, thus introducing a new genre for the company. The plans are to secure at least one children’s animation film per year.
At the market, New Europe Film Sales will focus on selling its Sundance-premiered titles. These are the Greek-Polish offbeat black comedy Pity [+leggi anche:

As recently reported (see the news), New Europe has secured the pre-sales of Grímur Hákonarson’s upcoming feature, The County, and has also taken on Anna Odell’s new feature, which is currently in post-production. Another eagerly awaited title is Syllas Tzoumerkas’ (A Blast [+leggi anche:
