250 professionals will descend on Erfurt from 26 to 28 November for the 16th Franco-German Film Meeting. Organised by UniFrance, German Films and the Académie Franco-Allemande du Cinéma, in partnership with the CNC and FFA, the event will host debates on topics impacting industry on both sides of the Rhine (SVoD platforms, European digital single market timelines, etc.), but also a co-production market with 18 projects to be showcased.
The most notable of the 11 French projects to be showcased is Joan Verra, which is the second feature by Laurent Larivière after I Am A Soldier [+leggi anche:

Written by the filmmaker with François Decodts, the screenplay focuses on a woman who loses her memory and starts to remember the events that marked her life, a revisitation that will suddenly take a different route, like a puzzle pieced back together from a totally new angle... The film, which may start shooting as early as next spring or summer, is being produced by Xavier Rigault and Marc-Antoine Robert for 2.4.7 Films.
Also to be showcased is Denis Dercourt's The Melody, based on a screenplay by Laurent Couson and François Lelord, which focuses on six characters who cross paths in China (a Madeleine Films production with Light Force Media as an attached partner), Laurent Cardona's Magnetics (production:Easy Tiger and SRAB Films), which recounts the misadventures of two brothers in the early 80s, and the animated title Adam by Ron Segal (produced by Les Films d'Ici, with MovieBrats Pictures already attached), whose main character is a famous Israeli writer who survived the Holocaust.
Also of note is the 40 Samurais project (produced by Rhea Films with the Belgian outfit Saga Films in co-production) with a screenplay by Yves Lombard, which plunges viewers into the wake of the first Japanese embassy mission to Paris in 1862, but also the thriller L’Emploi des armes by Julien Allary (based on a screenplay by Cyril Monin), which sees a group of workers in the midst of a social struggle take somebody hostage at a famous restaurant (Sacrebleu Productions).
The other French projects are Hidden by Mathieu Buffler (screenplay by Christophe Fustini - CTon Film Productions), Berlinistan by Marco Nicoletti (co-written with Philippe Cabasset - Glaam Films) and three documentary projects: A Rear Window On America – A Year with Henry David Thoreau by Marie-Ève de Grave (production: Idéale Audience), From Where They Stood [+leggi anche:

Five German projects are also on the menu: Just Be Dietrich by Marc Rothemund (screenplay by Christopher Canaan - production: Neue Bioskop Film), Mr. G by Dito Tsintsadze (screenplay by Eric Sterling Collins – 2Pilots Filmproduction), Howling Wolves by Benjamin Teske (screenplay by Cherokee Agnew – Leitwolf Filmproduktion) and the documentaries The Forgotten Treasure by Tom Ehrhardt (Reynard Films) and Fred Stein – Out of Exile by Peter Stein and Dawn Freer (Medea Film Factory).
The co-production market will also be showcasing Hinterland by the Austrian Stefan Ruzowitzky, a thriller set in Vienna in 1920, whose filmmaker co-wrote the screenplay with Hanno Pinter and Robert Buchschwenter (production: Amour Fou Luxembourg with Freibeuter Film et Lieblingsfilm already attached) and Nebula by Valerie Anex (produced by the Swiss company Letterbox Collective Filmproduktion) whose plot travels from Berlin to Scandinavia.
