The Film Selection Committee of the Film and Audiovisual Centre of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation has just announced that it is supporting 42 new films, including the latest projects by Lucas BelvauxRachel Lang and Patrick Ridremont.

A total of €2.2 million will thus be granted to 13 features, eight short films, 18 creative documentaries and three experimental films, which are receiving guaranteed writing, development or production support.

, an adaptation of the novel by Laurent Mauvignier, has just been released in Belgian theatres, the French author is about to have another one of his books adapted, as Lucas Belvaux is bringing The Wound to the big screen. The novel is about the Algerian War and its consequences on a small group of men, and the film version is being produced by Artemis Productions in Belgium and Synecdoque in France. Apparently, Catherine Frot and Gérard Depardieu will be among the cast.

), who recently won funding from the Gan Foundation, explores the world of the French Foreign Legion, the crème de la crème of the country’s army. The movie, which is scheduled to be shot in the spring on Corsica and in Eastern France, is being produced in France by Chevaldeuxtrois and in Belgium by Wrong Men (see the news).

 (nominated for the César Award for Best Foreign Film in 2014), Patrick Ridremont is back with The Advent Calendar, which follows the trials and tribulations of Eva, a former swimming champion who is now a paraplegic, and who receives a strange Advent calendar containing surprises, which are sometimes pleasant, but more often than not terrifying. It is being produced by Frakas Productions

Other lucky recipients of support include Emmanuel Marre (the man behind the medium-length films D’un château l’autre and Le Film de l’été, which have been festooned with awards at various festivals), who has received development support for Zero Fucks Given [+leggi anche:
