On a hot streak after the 2018 edition, where it was selling five films from the Official Competition, the international sales team of French group mk2 Films, headed up by Juliette Schrameck (with help from Fionnuala Jamison), will be making its way to the Marché du Film at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival (14-25 May) with equally high expectations, as four titles on its slate are in the running for the 2019 Palme d’Or.

You could even say that the future belongs to mk2 Films, given that the four titles in question are helmed by filmmakers who will be taking part in the Cannes competition for the first time (and three of whom are women): Portrait of a Lady on Fire [+leggi anche:

Interestingly, mk2 Films will be handling the French distribution of another hopeful for the Palme d’Or: Matthias & Maxime by Canada’s Xavier Dolan.

At the Marché du Film, mk2 Films will also be pressing on with pre-sales for several titles in post-production: Gloria Mundi by Robert Guédiguian (see the article), Arab Blues by Manele Labidi (see the article – with Golshifteh Farahani in the lead role), A Girl Missing by Japan’s Koji Fukada and the documentary Looking for Gilles Carion by Mariana Otero.
