scheda film], etc. In ten editions, many of the projects that have gone through FIDLab, the international co-production platform of FIDMarseille (Festival International de Cinéma de Marseille), made a great impression once finalised.
The 14 selected films (nine in development, four at the writing stage, and one in post-production; coming from 11 pays and chosen among 318 candidates) of the 11th edition, taking place on July 11th and 12th in Marseilles, will no doubt rouse the interest of potential partners, beyond that of the jury (comprising Belgian producer Marie Logie and her peers, Meng Xie from China and Christoph Friedel from Germany) which will give out the many awards.
Notable among the selected films is the Swiss project Unrueh (Unrest) by Cyril Schäublin. The director was discovered in Locarno in 2017 in the Cinéastes du Présent competition, where he won a special mention for best feature debut with his film Those Who Are Fine [+leggi anche:
scheda film], which was also nominated in the Découverte category at the European Film Awards in 2018. Currently in development, his new project (managed by Seeland Film Produktion) will dive into North-West Switzerland in 1872, following a young woman who finds a job in a wristwatch factory and meets a Russian traveler within the local anarchist movement…
It is worth noting that this 2019 edition of FIDLab will organise a focus on Bulgaria and on the resurgence of Bulgarian cinema. It will also invite a delegation of Bulgarian producers (representing the companies Red Carpet, Portokal, Art Fest, Sofia Meetings, Menclips and Contrast Films).
