The story, written by Caroline Vignal, revolves around Antoinette, who has spent the last few months eagerly awaiting the summer and the promise of a romantic week with her lover, Vladimir. But at the last minute, he cancels, as his wife has booked a family hike in the Cévennes mountains – with a donkey! Left by the wayside, on the spur of the moment Antoinette also decides to leave and sets off on the Robert Louis Stevenson Trail. When she arrives, there’s no sign of Vladimir, but she does come across a certain Patrick – a stubborn donkey (no one’s perfect!) that will accompany her on her unusual journey...

Produced by Laetitia Galitzine for Chapka Films and by Aurélie Rouvière for La Filmerie, My Donkey, My Lover and I is being co-produced by France 3 Cinéma and Belga Productions. Having been pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, the feature is also being backed by the CNC’s advance on receipts, the La Banque Postale Image and Cinémage Soficas, and the department of Lozère. The seven-week shoot will take place from 11 June-31 July in the Cévennes and in the Paris region, with Simon Beaufils (Knife + Heart [+leggi anche:
