Doclisboa svela i vincitori e i nuovi direttori del festival

The 17th Doclisboa International Film Festival (17 - 27 October) wrapped with the triumph of Santkihiri Sonata, a Thai-German co-production directed by Thunska Pansittivorakul.
The experimental, associative docu-fiction hybrid about the eponymous region in the north of Thailand and the rule of General Prem Tinsulanonda and its consequences, received the City of Lisboa Award worth €8,000 from the jury composed of Billy Woodberry, Carlos Almeida, Jérôme Bel, Juliano Gomes, Leonor Silveira and Mania Akbari. The film had its world premiere at Doclisboa.
The Portuguese Authors Society International Competition Jury Award worth €2,000 went to French filmmaker Frank Beauvais's Berlinale Forum title Just Don't Think I'll Scream [+leggi anche:

scheda film], while Brazilian director Jo Serfaty received a special mention for Sun Inside, which had its international premiere at Doclisboa.
In the Portuguese Competition, the jury comprising Daniel Hui, Ghassan Salhab and Golgona Anghel gave the main award, worth €5,000 to Pedro Felipe Marques's Breeding Ground [+leggi anche:

The MCFLY SPF Portuguese Competition Jury Award, consisting of €4,000 in post-production services, went to Miguel de Jesus for Bird's Nest [+leggi anche:

Two cross-sectional awards were given out by a jury consisting of Aya Koretzky, Sofia Bohdanowicz and Veton Nurkollari. The TVCine Channels New Talent Award for best first feature-length film, which includes €3,500 and acquisition of the film rights for Portugal, went to Carlos Conceição's Serpentarius [+leggi anche:

scheda film] (Angola/Portugal), while Manel Raga Raga's Tribute to Judas (Spain/Bosnia and Herzegovina) received the Ageas Insurance Award for Best Short Film worth €1,000. The accolade also includes a pre-nomination for Best Documentary Short Academy Award.
In the Green Years competition for student films, Natalia Ciepiel got the DFFB Award, consisting of a participation grant for a workshop at the Berlin-based film school, for A Family Tale. Croatian director Josip Lukic took home the Special MCFLY SPF Green Years Jury Award (€3,000 in technical services) for The Rex Will Sail in.
With the current festival directors Cíntia Gil and Davide Oberto leaving to take up positions at Sheffield Doc/Fest and Torino Film Festival, respectively, Doclisboa has introduced the new management. The three new directors are Joana Gusmão, Miguel Ribeiro and Joana de Sousa. Gusmão is a producer and has been working as executive director and programmer of the Green Years section since 2016; Ribeiro is a programmer and programme coordinator at the festival and member of the executive board of Portugal’s Apordoc - The Association for the Documentary; and de Sousa is a filmmaker and curator, who has also been programming for Doclisboa in recent years.
