The German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund was established in 2011 as a joint venture between the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, the Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein Film Fund and Meetings on the Bridge (MoB), the international co-production and networking platform organised as an integral part of the Istanbul Film Festival. For the past nine years, the fund has aimed to strengthen and support the cooperation between German and Turkish filmmakers.

In its latest announcement, which was made during the 27th Filmfest Hamburg, the fund’s selection committee, which is made up of representatives of film institutions, revealed the identities of the three projects, from among the six applicants, that would receive support of €58,000. All have a Turkish director and a German co-producer on board.

In detail, the projects are:

Electric Sleep, the sophomore feature by Zeynep Dadak (The Blue Wave [+leggi anche:

), which also won the latest Meetings on the Bridge Award (see the news) – co-produced by Aslı Dadak (Fena Film) and Tina Haagmann (unafilm GmbH).

Dormitory, the debut coming-of-age feature by well-travelled short filmmaker Nehir Tuna, which also participated in the Sundance Institute January Screenwriters Lab – co-produced by Müge Büyüktalaş for Ultraviolet Film and Stefan Gieren, of StoryBay Media.

Whitewash, the debut feature-length documentary by Ahmet Necdet Cupur, which was also presented in the previous Pitching du Réel at Visions du Réel – co-produced by Anke Petersen (JYOTI Film) and Nadir Öperli (Liman Film).

It’s worth noting that, taking into account all editions of the German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund so far, 49 projects have received support totalling €815,500, while 24 have been completed and have already had, or are expected to have, their world premieres at a major international film festival.
