Its industry strand – the RECLab – puts filmmakers in touch with international professionals who can help them to bring their current projects to fruition, as well as handing out various awards aimed at achieving this same goal.

This year, the RECLab’s Primer Test — the industry sidebar of the Tarragona REC Festival, organised by the Play Acción Cultural association — is presenting seven projects: Pedra Pàtria by Macià Florit Campins (Elsabeth Producciones), La Muga by Alba Bresolí and Antía Álzarez, El Riu by Tuixén Benet (with production duties entrusted to Isis Velasco), ¿Qué hicimos mal? by Liliana Torres (Matriuska Producciones, Avalon and Miss Wasabi – see the news), A Stormy Night by David Moragas (Oberon Media), El rastro firme by Fernando Gómez-Luna (Omen Producciones), which snagged the REC – Festival la Alternativa – Mentoring Projects Award, and Transoceánicas by Meritxell Colell and Lucía Vassallo (Intropia Media).

On the other hand, RECLab and MAFIZ (Málaga Festival Industry Zone) have signed a partnership agreement for the next two editions, the aim being to bolster the promotion and funding of projects taking part in Primer Test, as well as in Málaga Work in Progress, the space that MAFIZ devotes to giving a final push to enable the completion of movies at the post-production stage.
