scheda film] collected three Goya Awards after first being unveiled at the Sitges Film Festival in 2011. At that same Catalonian gathering, which specialises in fantasy and horror fare, but at its upcoming edition, set to unspool in autumn this year, audiences will get the chance to see the new film by Kike Maíllo, who directed both of the aforementioned flicks. This one will bear the international title A Perfect Enemy, and it is an adaptation of the best-selling novel The Enemy's Cosmetique by French author Amélie Nothomb. It stars an international cast comprising Spanish actress Marta Nieto (who toplines Madre [+leggi anche:

scheda film], by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, which has just been released in France), Poland’s Tomasz Kot, South Africa’s Athena Strates and French thesp Dominique Pinon.
Shot at various locations in Reus, Barcelona, Paris and Frankfurt, the film adaptation was penned by Maíllo himself, Cristina Clemente (who previously worked with the filmmaker on his feature debut) and Fernando Navarro (Verónica [+leggi anche:

The synopsis revolves around a successful architect, Jeremiasz Angust, who misses his flight because of a young woman who approaches him in the airport and won't stop pestering him; from that point on, both characters strike up a conversation that, even though it may seem coincidental, soon spirals into something much more sinister and criminal.
Other Spanish features set to unspool at the 53rd Sitges Film Festival are the historical title La vampira de Barcelona by Lluís Danés, starring Nora Navas as the titular vampire (see the news); Cross the Line [+leggi anche:
scheda film], the high-octane new thriller by David Victori, with Mario Casas in the lead role (see the news); and Malnazidos, a military-themed zombie comedy helmed by Javier Ruíz Caldera and Alberto del Toro, boasting a cast that includes Miki Esparbé, Aura Garrido, Luis Callejo, Álvaro Cervantes, Jesús Carroza and María Botto, and which will have the honour of opening the gathering on 8 October.
A Perfect Enemy is a European co-production between Sábado Películas (Spain), The Project (France) and Barry Films (Germany), which saw the involvement of RTVE, TV3 and Treehouse Pictures. It has also secured backing from the ICAA, ICEC, ESCAC, Hessen Film Fund and DFFF. Its international sales have been entrusted to Pulsar Content.
