Having kicked off on 31 August, filming on Emma Benestan first feature Fragile wrapped in Sète yesterday, 13 October. Hailing from La Fémis’s Editing Department, the director previously drew attention with her numerous short films, in particular the fiction offering Goût bacon and the documentary Un monde sans bêtes (featuring in Clermont-Ferrand’s national competition in 2017 and 2018, respectively).

Written by Emma Benestan and Nour Ben Salem, the story follows in the footsteps of Az, an oyster-farmworker in Sète who’s just been dumped by his girlfriend Jessica -  the star of a local soap opera set in the legal world - having only just asked her to marry him. For Az, it’s the end of the world. Desperate, he follows the advice of his childhood friend Lila and sets about choreographing a furious dance in order to reclaim her heart…

Produced by Caroline Nataf, together with Bruno Nahon and Thomas Morvan, on behalf of Unité, Fragile is co-produced by France 3 Cinéma and pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+. The feature film also enjoys the support of the Occitanie region and of the SOFICA company SofitvCiné, with cinematography coming courtesy of Aurélien Marra (Two of Us [+leggi anche:
