The nine selected projects and three development executives that will participate in the upcoming MIDPOINT TV Launch 2021 have been announced. Like every edition, the "idea to market" series project development programme is focusing on creative teams of professionals hailing from Central and Eastern Europe. During this seven-month workshop, the writers, directors and producers will experience the intensity of the development process as well as get to know the international market and meet decision makers, while the development-executive participants will accompany them on this journey, simultaneously enhancing their skills.

The schedule had to be adapted owing to the current health situation, hence the first workshop will be held online from 3-14 May. The kick-off session for the whole programme will take place in the form of the preparatory session for the development-executive participants from 26-27 April, and afterwards, they will also join the creative teams for the first workshop. According to the current plans, the second workshop will take place during the summer. The third and final one is being organised in collaboration with Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, and it will hopefully run in late November, during the upcoming Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, where the projects will also be pitched as part of the Season Finale platform.

The nine TV series projects come from Hungary, Lithuania, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia, and the development-executive participants from Croatia, the Czech Republic and Ukraine. Hungarian writer and creative producer Gábor Krigler is the head of studies and one of the three dedicated group leaders, alongside British writer and development executive Ben Morris (Mr. Selfridge, Bancroft), and French writer-producer Cyril Tysz (SKAM France). Furthermore, the three guest tutors for the first workshop are Maggie Murphy, Ben Harris and Steve Matthews.
