The Seville European Film Festival continues to build up its professional proposals with a view to growing not only as an unmissable date on the industry calendar, celebrating the best European creations each year, but also as a stepping stone for the development of new projects that we can expect to see in future editions. For this 18th edition of the event, taking place from 5 - 13 November (see more here), the organisers have prepared a new framework for meeting and discussion, in collaboration with a number of international organisations, which will offer a number of events from 8 - 13 November.

This year, the European Coproduction Forum, a space created in partnership with the Andalusian Film Producers’ Association ANCINE (Asociación Andaluza de Productoras de Cine) to incentivise and support coproductions between European countries, will be focusing on Germany. Having already done so with Italy and Portugal, this year the Forum is looking to the northern European country, with five guest projects originating from Germany and a further five from Spain. The selected projects include new pieces from film makers such as the duo Stefan Butzmühlen and Cristina Diz Muñoz (who were also chosen for the Berlinale Forum with their first work Sleepless Knights), Manuel Muñoz Rivas (also featured in the same section at the Berlinale with his documentary The Sea Stares at Us From Afar [+leggi anche:

in the New Directors section in San Sebastián), or the long-awaited first full-length fiction films from Álvaro Gago (after the huge success of this short film Matria) and Cyril Aris (who will arrive in Seville after receiving the first prize at the Cinemed Meetings in Montpellier). These candidates will have the chance to will two awards, valued at €5,000 (on cash prize, the other in post-production services).

This year, the event will hold for the first time the Seville Independent Film Market - MERCI Sevilla – in collaboration with the Andalusian Film Producers’ Association ADICINE (Asociación de distribuidores independientes cinematográficos), which offers exclusive screenings for exhibitors, schedulers and television channels of a selection of films due to premiere in Spain between December 2021 and the autumn of 2022. In addition, the event will also host a series of talks and round tables run by international experts on topics such as marketing, social media communications or digital distribution.

As usual, several international organisations will attend the festival in Seville, such as the sales agent network Europa International (currently celebrating its tenth anniversary – see more here), the cinema network Europa Cinemas (once again running the Innovation and Audience Development Lab for exhibitors) or EAVE (which will be organising one of its habitual EAVE On Demand events with five selected projects).
