Feria de Valladolid and Spain Film Commission will hold the second Shooting Locations Marketplace on 20 and 21 October. The event is aimed at location scouts, shooting destinations and audiovisual production service companies whose format emphasises a programme of pre-arranged interviews based on common interests. Last year, with the first edition of the event, more than 700 meetings were held over the two days, also in Valladolid on the eve of its Film Week (Seminci).

There will be space for work meetings with production companies and location scouts on the lookout for ideal filming destinations for their future projects, with personalised advice. There will also be a common networking area for all participants at the event, with great potential for developing contacts. All of this will be complemented by professional workshops to exchange know-how and to debate on current industry issues.

For its second edition, the structure will remain the same, given the great results of the previous year (read more), and the international aspect will be reinforced because, as the general director of Feria de Valladolid, Alberto Alonso, explains, "Shooting Locations Marketplace is a global project and we want Valladolid to be an essential date on the calendar of professionals whose work can take them anywhere in the world".

The president of Spain Film Commission, Carlos Rosado, stated that "we are encouraged by the first edition to continue collaborating in this project. Spain Film Commission not only strives to attract shoots to our country, but also to position Spain as an international leader for the entire film industry, in keeping with the goals of Spain Audiovisual Hub [read more]. We are convinced that Shooting Locations Marketplace will be a must-attend event for professionals and audiovisual production companies, and that we are therefore setting ourselves new challenges".

Finally, New York-based location scout Lori Balton (whose work includes Top Gun: Maverick, presented out of competition at this year's Cannes Film Festival) described the first Shooting Locations Marketplace, which she attended as "a resounding success!", highlighting "its innovative format, as well as the COVID-19 health and safety measures in place. It was a twofold risk that clearly paid off. It was great to see colleagues again and make the most of the trips to discover potential future locations. I rounded off my stay with an amazing trip to the Canary Islands, an absolute must for all filmmakers. I felt truly honoured and grateful for being able to take part in the event”.
