scheda film] by Lise Akoka and Romane Gueret has triumphed in the 15th Angoulême French-Language Film Festival (FFA), walking away with the Diamond Valois as decided upon by a jury presided over by André Dussollier. This debut feature is sold worldwide by Pyramide who will also be distributing the movie in French cinemas from 30 November.

Another film unveiled on the Croisette within the Un Certain Regard section stands tall among the festival champions, namely The Blue Caftan [+leggi anche:

scheda film] by Maryam Touzani which earned itself the Best Film Direction and Best Actor Valois awards (the latter for Saleh Bakri). This feature film sold by Films Boutique is set to be distributed in France by Ad Vitam.

An impressive haul of four trophies was carted away by Léopold Legrand’s Le sixième enfant [+leggi anche:

scheda film], which won the Valois for Best Screenplay (as penned by the director and Catherine Paillé, based upon Alain Jaspard’s novel Pleurer des rivières), Best Music (as composed by Louis Sclavis) and Best Actress (shared between Sara Giraudeau and Judith Chemla), not to mention the Audience Award. This feature is sold by Pyramide, who are also distributing the movie in French cinemas from 28 September.

Attention should likewise be drawn to the Special Mention Acting Award bestowed upon Kelly Depeault for her role in the Quebecker film Noémie dit oui by Geneviève Albert, which also bagged the French-Speaking Students Valois.
