The awards of the 65th edition of DOK Leipzig (17-23 October) were presented on Saturday at the closing ceremony in the Schaubühne Lindenfels. The festival's top prize, the €10,000 Golden Dove in the International Competition, went to Anhell69 [+leggi anche:

by Colombian director Theo Montoya. The jury, comprising Philippa Kowarsky, Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese, Shireen Seno, Ula Stöckl and Andrei Tănăsescu, called it “a cinematic slipstream of consciousness fuelled by human nature’s pleasure and death drives”.

The €6,000 Silver Dove for the best feature-length documentary or animated film by an up-and-coming director in the International Competition was awarded to Faustine Cros for the Belgian-French production A Life Like Any Other [+leggi anche:

. The film also received the Prize of the Interreligious Jury, worth €1,750.

In the Competition for the Audience Award, judged by a jury of film enthusiasts and friends of the festival, the Golden Dove and €3,000 went to Three Women [+leggi anche:

by Ukrainian-born, German-based helmer Maksym Melnyk. It also won the €4,000 DEFA Sponsoring Prize. The Silver Dove in the same section, worth €1,500, was handed to Olesya Shchukina for the Russian-French animated documentay Lada, Ivan’s Sister.

In the newly established Panorama Middle and Eastern Europe section, the MDR Prize went to Marek Kozakiewicz's Silent Love [+leggi anche:

(Poland/Germany). Meanwhile, French director Mickaël Bandela's One Mother received the FIPRESCI Prize.

Among the shorts in the International Competition, Will You Look at Me by China's Shuli Huang was honoured as the best documentary film, while Marta Magnuska's Misaligned (Poland/Latvia) picked up the Golden Dove for the best animated film. The newly established Silver Dove in the section went to South Korea's Sujin Moon for Persona.

At the DOK Co-Pro Market, the Saxon Award for the Best Documentary Project by a Female Director, including €5,000, was handed to A Bit of a Stranger [+leggi anche:

by Ukraine's Svitlana Lishchynska, while Jasmila Žbanić's Blum (Bosnia and Herzegovina/Croatia/Germany) got the €1,500 Current Time TV Award.
