Organised by Argentina’s National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) and Marché du Film – Cannes Film Cannes, Ventana Sur has grown year on year to become a key event for Spanish-American productions and their partnerships with European companies. Its 14th edition will be held in Buenos Aires between 28 November and 2 December. It is already the most important market for audiovisual content in Latin America, and a must for distributors and buyers, as it brings together the different players in the audiovisual industry to promote the co-production, financing and international distribution of Latin American content.

Every year, the event welcomes 3,000 visitors, including more than 250 buyers and sellers from all five continents, as well as representatives from major international chains and platforms. At the market they can meet with content producers in business rounds, pitching sessions and one-to-one meetings. They also have access to round tables, specific activities for producers with projects in development, workshops, talks and conferences on current and upcoming issues.

Through its different sections –Primer Corte, Copia Final, Blood Window, Animation!, Proyecta (read more), Punto Género, SoloSeries, El Principio del Film, Maquinitas (about videogames) and DocSur– and its activities and services -such as conferences, screenings and Video Library-, Ventana Sur promotes Latin American content of all formats and genres (fiction, documentaries, animation, fantasy, Latin American queer), offering a wide range of business and promotion possibilities.

Its Primer Corte section aims to promote Latin American fiction feature films in their post-production stage, connecting participating films with producers, sales agents, international festival programmers and respected industry managers. Its selection committee has chosen six films (listed at the end) that will compete for prizes consisting of post-production services. Also, the films in this section that the selection committee has considered worthy have been invited to take part in the FIP (Films in Progress) section, giving them greater visibility during the event thanks to their screening through the Market’s video library (their titles and producers are listed at the end).

And in the Copia Final section, six recently finished Latin American fiction films, unreleased inside or outside their countries of production, are taking part. All the films selected for these sections will be screened in cinemas and will remain at Cinando with exclusive access for those accredited by Ventana Sur until one month after the market ends. These films will also be incorporated into Ventana Sur's Industry in Progress catalogue.

Information on all the sections, projects and activities of Ventana Sur 2022, can be found on its website.
