Last week, Viaplay announced a new series project, titled Bullshit. Based on a best-selling book by Camilla Stockmann and Janus Køster-Rasmussen, the show centres on a rootless young couple, Pia (played by Alba August, who recently appeared in Becoming Astrid [+leggi anche:

Described as “an unconventional coming-of-age drama”, the series was created and penned by Milad Alami (Follow the Money, The Charmer [+leggi anche:

Commenting on the streaming giant’s new project, Filippa Wallestam, Viaplay Group’s chief content officer, said: “The setting of this top-quality series may be unfamiliar to many viewers, but its themes are universal. This is a story about the desire for community, and how it can paradoxically push us over social boundaries. Bullshit is an example of how Viaplay brings together top Danish talents to create shows with international potential. However, to carry on green-lighting compelling productions like this, we need regulatory certainty, and a fair and balanced playing field in Denmark.”
Alami added: “I’ve approached this series as an extended feature film revolving around the themes of family and violence. Bullshit is a four-and-a-half-hour thrill ride into the wildness of youth that starts off all fun and innocent, but becomes increasingly serious and dangerous.”
Bullshit is being produced by Malene Blenkov for Denmark’s Nordisk Film/Creative Alliance, with Marlene Billie Andreasen serving as the executive producer for Viaplay Group. It is also being produced in partnership with Estonia’s Nafta Films, with support from Public Service Puljen, the Nordisk Film & TV Fond, Film Estonia’s cash-rebate incentive and the European Union’s Creative Europe – MEDIA programme. The show’s international sales are being handled by Viaplay Content Distribution. It will be released exclusively on Viaplay next year.
