While this occurred at the start of the ceremony, at the end of the gala, it was the director himself who collected the Award for Best Film from the hands of Marisa Paredes at the 28^th edition of these trophies. His movie, which screened at Cannes, has proven to be a box-office hit in Spain (having raked in more than €3 million), recently won an award from the Spanish Cinema Federation, and is in the running for a whopping ten Feroz Awards and 17 Goyas. They all started the night with two nominations apiece at this edition of the Forqué Awards.

During the evening, which included a tribute to Verónica Forqué on the first anniversary of her death, the EGEDA Gold Medal was given out in recognition of the career of producer José Luis Bermúdez de Castro (who has been behind films by names of the likes of Eloy de la Iglesia, Sergio Leone and Fernando Fernán Gómez, among others).
