Written by the director alongside Irène Muscari, the story revolves around renowned orchestra conductor Thibaut. When he’s diagnosed with Leukaemia, he sets out in search of a compatible donor for a bone marrow transplant. He subsequently discovers that he’s adopted and that he has an older brother in the North. The latter is an office worker, but he also plays trombone in a local brass band which is soon to be dismantled. Against the backdrop of the closure of the only factory in the area, their meeting marks the beginning of a fraternal, social and musical adventure…

En fanfare is produced by Marc Bordure on behalf of Agat Films, in co-production with France 2 Cinéma, as well as by Pictanovo (Hauts de France region). Pre-purchased by Canal+, Ciné+ and France Télévisions, the feature film also enjoys support from the SOFICA companies Cinéaxe, Indéfilms, Entourage, SG Image, La Banque Postale Image and Sofitvcine. The 39-day film shoot will unfold between 14 March and 6 May in Paris and in northern France, with Maxence Lemonnier heading up photography. Distribution in French cinemas is entrusted to Diaphana while international sales fall to Playtime.

For the record, Agat Films are currently producing Michel Hazanavicius’ animated movie La plus précieuse des marchandises, whilst also overseeing post-production on Robert Guédiguian’s Et la fête continue, Émilie Deleuze’s 5 hectares [+leggi anche:
