Questo articolo è disponibile in inglese.

Miro (Živko Anočić), a 40-year-old businessman, spends the night with a prostitute who was sent to his hotel room after a business dinner, for the first time in his life. After they’ve had sex, he finds her dead in the bathroom. He is a happily married man and a father of two, so he cannot possibly let such a scandal come to light. Two hotel employees help him cover the whole thing up, but in return, they start asking favours of him – first small, then bigger, ones. Miro’s life will never be the same again.

is the final film written and directed by Lukas Nola, who died suddenly last October after losing his battle with cancer. The film is set to world-premiere in the national competition of the upcoming Pula Film Festival (15-23 July). “My personal powerlessness in the face of violence and primitivism as well as the powerlessness of people around me led me to write the script and shoot this film. The only constants in the two countries where I have lived are arrogance, primitivism and violence (not necessarily physical, although there was that, too), which dominate society and determine almost all the rules by which it functions. Not always openly, sometimes covertly or completely imperceptibly – but it is present,” the filmmaker wrote in his director’s notes.

Alongside Anočić, the rest of the cast includes Krešimir Mikić, Nikša Butijer, Hrvojka Begović, Igor Kovač, Hrvoje Barišić, Paško Vukasović and Lena Medar. Escort was lensed by Frane Pamić and edited by Slaven Zečević. The music was written by Aleksandar Pejovski, while the sound design was handled by Igor Popovski. Ivan Veljača oversaw the production design, Željka Franulović designed the costumes, while Mojca Gorogranc Petrushevska was responsible for the make-up. Escort was produced by Ankica Jurić Tilić, Dragan Jurić and Hrvoje Pervan for production company Kinorama, Tomi Salkovski and Fatmir Spahiu served as co-producers, while their respective firms Skopje Film Studio and Buka Production were the co-production companies involved. The film received financial support from the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, the North Macedonia Film Agency, the Kosovo Cinematography Center and Croatian Radio-Television.
