After a record-breaking edition (which welcomed 15,820 accredited guests – up 19% on last year’s figures – hailing from 102 countries), the 42nd Annecy International Animated Film Festival has unveiled its winners list, dominated by Chicken for Linda! [+leggi anche:

by Chiara Malta and Sébastien Laudenbach, which won the 2023 Cristal for a Feature Film, handed out by a jury comprising Sofía E Alexander, Jan Kounen and Kid Koala.

The second feature by the filmmakers (Chiara Malta having made her fiction debut in 2019 with Simple Women [+leggi anche:

), Chicken for Linda! (which also walked away with the Gan Foundation Award for Distribution at Annecy) was first unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival, on the ACID programme, and is being sold internationally by Charades. The movie will be released in French theatres on 18 October by Gebeka Films.

by Hungary’s Áron Gauder. The second feature by the filmmaker, who was victorious at Annecy in 2005 with his feature debut, District!, is being sold abroad by Gebeka International.

Also of note in the main competition is the Paul Grimault Award, which was bestowed upon The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes by Japan’s Tomohisa Taguchi, whereas when it came to the features in the competitive Contrechamp section, the jury (comprising Eunyoung Choi, Céline Devaux and Hippolyte Girardot) handed the Grand Prix to Robot Dreams [+leggi anche:

It’s worth noting that the spotlight country next year, at the 43rd Annecy International Animated Film Festival (9-15 June 2024), will be Portugal.
