Madrid City Council, through its Madrid Film Office initiative, has participated for the second year running in Ventana Sur, the prestigious Latin American audiovisual market. This event is organised by the National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) and Marché du Film - Cannes Film Festival. Each year it brings together more than 3,000 professionals from the audiovisual industry to promote co-production, financing and international distribution of Latin American content.

Madrid Film Office has used its presence at Ventana Sur to highlight the city as an ideal setting for audiovisual shoots and to strengthen relations between the Madrid and Latin American audiovisual industries, especially in co-productions. The City Council is participating in line with the strategies of promoting Madrid as a production centre in Europe and as a bridge for co-productions between the Spanish and Latin American industries.

Two round tables organised in collaboration with the Community of Madrid have been the focal point. The first, entitled "What's happening in Madrid? Measures, grants and initiatives to support the audiovisual sector", presented the initiatives developed in recent years to promote the audiovisual sector in Madrid. The second panel, "Madrid as a bridge for co-production with Spain: the case of Adiós Madrid", focused on the success of Madrid as a production centre and its opportunities for co-production, using the case of the film Adiós Madrid as an example.

Both round tables will be attended by key industry representatives, including Raúl Torquemada, director of the Madrid Film Office, Gonzalo Cabrera, director general of Cultural Promotion of the Community of Madrid, and Carlo D'Ursi, producer and president of the Madrid Audiovisual Association (AMA).

Madrid's presence at Ventana Sur is part of a wider strategy by Madrid Film Office and the City Council to strengthen ties between the Spanish and Portuguese language audiovisual industries. The city has established itself as one of Europe's leading production centres, hosting more than 66 series, 47 films and 380 medium and large-scale advertisements by 2022. This growth has resulted in closer ties with Latin American companies, with production companies such as Dynamo Producciones, W Studios, Noc Noc Cinema, Gato Grande Productions and Dopamine all actively participating in projects shot in Madrid.

Madrid Film Office has also supported major events such as the Platinum Awards and Iberseries & Platino Industria, consolidating it as a key player in promoting and supporting the Ibero-American audiovisual industry. The city acts as a natural bridge between Europe and Latin America, a quintessential transatlantic meeting and business development platform.

In short, Madrid City Council's participation in Ventana Sur reflects Madrid's success as a key destination for audiovisual production, as well as an active promoter of collaboration and co-production between the European and Latin American industries.
