Having kicked off on 19 August, the first half of filming on Sophie Beaulieu’s La poupée is due to wrap tomorrow. This will be the first feature film by the director who turned heads with her short works I Didn’t Shoot Jesse James (selected in Toronto 2017) and Salem (screened in Clermont-Ferrand’s national competition in 2021).

Written by the director, the story revolves around Rémi (Vincent Macaigne) who is struggling to get over a heartbreak and who since shares his life with a doll called Audrey. But when temp Patricia (Cécile de France) starts work in his company, Audrey (Zoé Marchal) comes to life. These two women soon turn Rémi’s life upside down… ultimately for the better.
La poupée is being produced by Raphaëlle Delauche and Nicolas Sanfaute on behalf of Novoprod Cinéma, in co-production with Atelier de Production, 31 Juin Films and Borsalino Productions. Pre-purchased by Canal+, Ciné+, C8 and TV5 Monde, the feature film also enjoys support from the SOFICA companies La Banque Postale Image and Palatine Étoile, as well as backing from the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region where almost all of the 30-day film shoot (whose second half is planned for 18 – 27 November) is unfolding, with Yann Maritaud (nominated for the 2021 Lumière in his speciality thanks to Slalom [+leggi anche:
