The San Sebastián International Film Festival has announced the make-up of the Official Selection jury for its upcoming 72nd edition (20-28 September), which will be chaired by the winner of last year's Golden Shell, director Jaione Camborda, who was the first Spanish female filmmaker to pocket the gathering's top prize, thanks to The Rye Horn [+leggi anche:

. The Basque filmmaker will be accompanied during the deliberations by Austrian helmer Ulrich Seidl, winner of awards at festivals such as Berlin and Venice, who presented his latest, controversial film Sparta [+leggi anche:

in this festival's competition; Greek filmmaker Christos Nikou, who directed Apples [+leggi anche:

, presented in Venice's Orizzonti section, and Fingernails, which competed for the Golden Shell; US actor Fran Kranz, whose first foray into directing, Mass, was presented in the festival's New Directors section, going on to win the Youth Award, before its success during the awards season; French producer Carole Scotta, founder of Haut et Court; and Argentinian writer and journalist Leila Guerriero.

The Kutxabank-New Directors Award jury will be chaired by French producer and distributor Philippe Bober (founder of Coproduction Office), who will be joined by Argentinian director and programmer Eduardo Crespo (whose feature We Will Never Die vied for the Golden Shell in 2020), Basque filmmaker Izibene Oñederra (who is presenting her short film When It Comes (It Will Have Your Eyes) in this year's Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section), Swiss director Aulona Selmani, and Irish critic and festival programmer Jessica Kiang.

The Horizontes Award jury will be chaired by Argentinian film critic Fernando Juan Lima, who will be joined by Spanish producer Pedro Hernández Santos (Aquí y Allí Films) and Costa Rican director Valentina Maurel (who won this very award with her first feature, I Have Electric Dreams [+leggi anche:

, after having won three prizes at Locarno).

Lastly, the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera Award jury will be presided over by Switzerland's Emilie Bujès, director of the Visions du Réel Festival, and will include Argentinian filmmaker Santiago Loza (whose latest feature Friends on a Country Road participated in this section) and Icelandic producer Hrönn Kristinsdóttir (S101 Films), also the artistic director of the Stockfish Film Festival.
