The shoot for the feature debut by Prïncia Car, The Girls We Want, has entered the home stretch, after having kicked off on 23 September. It is due to wrap on 24 October in Marseille.
Having turned heads with her numerous short films, including Barcelona (in the national competition at Clermont-Ferrand in 2019), the filmmaker has now assembled a cast toplined by three actors who will also be performing in a feature film for the first time: Houssam Mohamed and Leia Haichour, who previously appeared in Barcelona, and Lou Anna Hamon.
The story, written by Prïncia Car and Léna Mardi, revolves around Yasmine, an exemplary young girl who has so much going for her: a group of friends who adore her, a fiancé whom she adores, and a future that’s all mapped out. However, one evening, the arrival of the charming and headstrong Carmen will forever disrupt the group and alter Yasmine’s view on sexuality, love and the norms they have agreed to abide by so far…
The Girls We Want is being produced by Johanna Nahon for After Hours Production (with Jérôme Benadiner and William S Touitou serving as associate producers), and is being co-produced by France 3 Cinéma and Zinc (which will also distribute the film in French theatres). Having been pre-purchased by Canal+, Ciné+ and France Télévisions, the feature also boasts support from the Sud (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur) region. The five-week shoot has been taking place entirely in Marseille, with Raphaël Vandenbussche (Rodéo [+leggi anche:
