Discovered in Cannes (in Directors’ Fortnight) and also screened in Toronto (in the Centrepiece section) and in San Sebastián (Zabaltegi-Tabakalera), To a Land Unknown follows two Palestinian cousins who’ve taken refuge in Athens where they try many different schemes to gather a large sum of money which will allow them to get fake passports and get to Germany, where they dream of finally building their lives. But this quest pushes them beyond their limits, leaving behind a part of themselves in the hope of a better future. The film, which is sold internationally by Salaud Morisset and will be distributed in France by Eurozoom on 12 March 2025, also won the Best Debut Work award.
