At the ceremony held last Saturday in Madrid, Black Butterflies, directed by David Baute that tells the story of three women from different parts of the planet forced to migrate due to climate change, won the award for Best Animated Feature film; Marisol, llámame Pepa by Blanca Torres received the award for Best Documentary; and La gran obra by Álex Lora (Unicorns [+leggi anche:

In Best Latin American Film, the Chilean film El lugar de la otra by Maite Alberdi received a second consecutive award for the filmmaker, winner last year in the same category for La memoria infinita and nominated in the 26th edition for The Mole Agent [+leggi anche:

Finally, the Audience Award went to A House on Fire directed by Dani de la Orden, which, according to data from the Spanish Ministry of Culture, has grossed just over three million euros and has been seen by more than 450,000 viewers (box-office figures almost identical to those of The 47).

The gala presentation of these early awards took a look back at the legacy of its thirty editions, as well as at the producer and founder of EGEDA, José María Forqué, after whom the award is named. Its president, Enrique Cerezo, awarded the Gold Medal to the filmmaker José Luis Garci, a figure who, as the host pointed out, “perfectly embodies the figure of the director-producer,” thanks to titles such as Sesión continua, the trilogy of El crack (1981, 1983 and 2019) and Volver a empezar, the first Oscar for a Spanish film in 1982.
