The final preparations are underway for French sales agent Pyramide International (directed by Éric Lagesse and steered by Agathe Mauruc) who’ll be approaching the 75th Berlinale’s European Film Market (running 13 - 19 February) with gusto, armed with several highly promising titles.

scheda film] (in competition in Locarno and also screened in Toronto’s Contemporary World Cinema section in 2018). Written by the two filmmakers, the story takes us to Ankara in 1999. Arzu works in an erotic call centre. When an earthquake suddenly hits Istanbul, a young man she's been on the phone with is trapped under rubble and begs her to save him. Arzu knows who to call... but she’ll be risking her own life in doing so. Chiefly starring Saadet Işıl Aksoy and Nilgün Türksever, Confidante was produced by Il Films (Turkey), 3B Productions (France), Les Films du Tambour (France) and Bidibul Productions (Luxembourg).

Four new works are set to arrive in the agent’s line-up, three of which are in post-production. Stealing focus amongst these is Behind the Palm Trees by Meryem Benm'Barek (read our article), a Tessalit production for which the filmmaker, who won a Best Screenplay Prize in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section in 2018, has assembled a cast composed of Sara Giraudeau, Driss Ramdi, Carole Bouquet and Olivier Rabourdin.

Shining equally bright in post-production is Meteors (article), Hubert Charuel’s second feature film after Bloody Milk [+leggi anche:

scheda film] (screened in Cannes’ Critics’ Week 2017, garnering eight nominations at the 2018 Césars andtrophies for Best First Film, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress). The cast of this Domino Films production stars Paul Kircher, Idir Azougli and Salif Cissé and the story revolves around three long-time friends in the heart of France’s rural wasteland. Tony has become the king of construction, but Mika and Daniel aren’t kings of anything. Following yet another blunder by Daniel, the two friends are forced to work for Tony at a nuclear waste site. What could possibly go wrong?

Pyramide International will also be kicking off pre-sales on La petite cuisine de Mehdi by Amine Adjina (article), an Agat Films & Ex Nihilo production starring Younès Boucif, Clara Brétheau, Hiam Abbass and Gustave Kervern, among other faces.

The 4th new work in the line-up is the Spanish animated movie Olivia (working title) by Irene Iborra (read our news), produced by Spanish firms Citoplasma Stop Motion Animation Studio, Cornelius Film and Bígaro Films alongside Vivement Lundi ! (France), Panique ! (Belgium) and Nadasdy Films (Switzerland).

Last but not least, market screenings are likewise on the cards for The Musicians by Grégory Magne (starring Valérie Donzelli and Frédéric Pierrot), Magma by Cyprien Vial and Shepherds [+leggi anche:
