Pernille Fischer Christensen, one of Denmark’s most highly acclaimed filmmakers, is set to make her highly anticipated return to Danish feature films with her new project, Hashtag (Vores Løfte). After almost a decade away from the cinematic landscape, Fischer Christensen reemerges with a fresh narrative that delves into the complexities of trust, identity and media scrutiny.

The story follows Maria, a well-established television host whose world is upended when revelations about her husband, Mikael, begin to surface. Once a renowned swimming coach, Mikael becomes the focal point of public outrage after being implicated in serious allegations of sexual abuse. The subsequent scandal forces Maria to confront not only the potential breakdown of her personal life and marital trust, but also the broader implications for her career and public identity.

scheda film]) toplining in the role of Maria, embodying the vulnerability and strength of a woman caught between personal crisis and public expectation. Alongside her, Lars Ranthe (Another Round [+leggi anche:

scheda film]) takes on the challenging role of Mikael, portraying a character whose past glories and current controversies collide. Supporting roles are filled by Sofie Torp (Boundless), who portrays Maria’s publishing editor and good friend, along with Rasmus Botoft as Mikael’s boss Jan and Rikke Bilde as Jan’s wife. Additionally, emerging talents Lily Schøtt-Wieth and Selma Kjær Kuscu, as the couple’s children, round off the cast.

scheda film], which was also her last film made in Denmark, as well as notable contributions to television series. Filming for Hashtag is taking place across multiple locations, with initial scenes shot on the scenic island of Funen in Denmark before moving on to the sun-drenched landscapes of Gran Canaria.

In a statement on her new film, Fischer Christensen says: “What happens when we are forced to recreate the story of our lives? When we can no longer trust that what was once a true story still is? We can fall apart, or we can find the courage to shine a light in new places – places where it might hurt, where not everything is neat and understandable. We live in a time where we constantly need to try to grasp the new realities that are taking shape. And perhaps find the strength to help create them. These are the life stories that Hashtag is about.”

Hashtag is being produced by Tomas Radoor and Mette Høst Hansen for Nordisk Film Production, with support from the Danish Film Institute, FilmFyn, Zentropa, the Nordisk Film & TV Fond, NRK and RÚV. The international sales are handled by TrustNordisk, and the movie is expected to be released in Danish theatres by spring 2026.
