Mediterráneo Mediaset España Group has secured pre-sales for La Favorita 1922 in over 20 territories across Europe and the Americas ahead of its upcoming debut on Telecinco this week.

The romantic period-drama show, marking the first collaboration between Mediaset Spain and Bambú Producciones (Gran Hotel, Velvet, Las Chicas del Cable), has been acquired in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay via Telecom Argentina’s Flow platform, in the USA and Canada through Walter Presents (via PBS), in Belgium on Proximus, and in Lithuania on public broadcaster LRT.

Set in early-20th-century Spain, the story follows the Marchioness Elena de Valmonte, who, trapped in an unhappy marriage, finds solace in the kitchen. A life-changing event leads her to flee to Madrid with her maid Cecilia, where she revives an old restaurant, La Favorita Bistró, alongside a team of women and the enigmatic Julio.

Silvia Cotino, deputy director of Sales and Business Development at Mediterráneo Mediaset España Group, highlighted the strategic value of the title: “This series enriches our slate, as we were previously lacking a period drama. Furthermore, Bambú’s hallmark of quality convinced us from the outset. We are confident that it will be a key asset in our international catalogue.”

Led by Verónica Sánchez and Luis Fernández, La Favorita 1922 is penned by Ramón Campos, Gema R Neira, Paula Fernández and Curro Serrano, with Mikel Alvariño and Luis Gamboa rounding off the writing team. Josep Cister Rubio serves as the executive producer. María Togores, Samantha López Speranza and Javier Pulido are attached as the show’s directors.
